About Joy

Fostering curiosity and building confidence is the foundation of my teaching approach. I love working with students who can become discouraged but can engage with material in interesting ways. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring is watching a challenging subject matter become something the student sees value in and wants to build on. When faced with challenges I try new approaches and adapt to meet students where they are. Communicating with families, setting goals, and breaking material into smaller pieces helps me maintain growth and consistency. In my own studies, I've found that learning is never standard and that finding the best way to understand something is different for everyone. I am dedicated to meeting your family where you are and learning what works best for your student.
