Here's what I think makes me uniquely great for your child/ren and family: I love the feeling of being excited about learning something new that I'm very interested in. I get that same feeling vicariously as a nanny since learning new and interesting things is basically what childhood is all about. Whether working with infants, toddlers, preschoolers or school-agers (I've done a lot of all of the above), every child is working on figuring out things that are important to them. It gives me enormous satisfaction to be able to assist in that process because I know how exciting, frustrating, infuriating, amusing, funny and eventually satisfying the process can be. For babies this could be learning to sit up, crawl or walk and for school aged kids it could be a gazillion different interests and struggles. Whether it's a physical, emotional, academic, social or even spiritual endeavor, everything feels easier when someone is on your side for it all. That's my primary goal as a nanny.
We struggled to find a caregiver for our 5 year old son who has ASD and ADHD. It took us 3 months and we finally found Jessie. I searched her out based on the wonderful reviews she has here on care.com ! Jessie came into our lives and took her time getting to know our boy. She always checked with us as to what we are comfortable with and always respected our parenting and our routines. She was thoughtful and careful about not overstepping and always checked with us. Our son has some difficult behaviors and Jessie is always calm and patient. She consistently has a very kind and gentle way about her and this has really helped our son in so many ways. She has a great sense of humor and they have so much fun playing together. He loves their time together and she was very thoughtful during the past 6 months being his caregiver, about putting him in social situations carefully, and with her support, to help him gain confidence with peers, which is a major challenge for him. She texts us almost every evening to review things that happened and it is always clear how excited she is about his successes. We have truly appreciated Jessie, the time she has had with our son, and her warm and caring heart!
