I cared for my mom when she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. She wanted to stay out of the hospital as much as possible. I drove her to her treatments chemo/radiation. I was holding her hand when she died at home. Caring for a sick or elderly person is difficult for both you and the person. My mom hated asking for help. It is important to show the person that you enjoy spending time with them and everything else doesn't matter. I currently care for a woman with the beginning stages of dementia. I do laundry, housekeeping, medication, shower, hygiene, changing clothes, go for walks, visit, sometimes watching a game show or two, once a week we have lunch, once every two to three weeks we go out to lunch wherever she wants to go. She goes in between a walker and a wheelchair and I am familiar with both. I keep in close contact with her family regarding her needs. I have a reference from her family. I also have a reference from another family. I really enjoy making a difference.
