About Jean Li

I'd describe my personality as nurturing, patient, and humorous. I tutor because it allows me to work at an individualized level with my student to reach his/her next learning summit. I take great pride in the personalization of my teaching approach. Tutoring allows me to enrich students in their current areas for growth while celebrating academic milestones and reinforcing their strengths! I started tutoring at a reading nonprofit in Brooklyn while I was working in editorial book publishing. Now as a full time teacher, I also volunteer my Orton-Gillingham reading intervention services to families. In my spare time, I like to run outdoors. I teach because I love working with children and advocating on behalf of their desires and dreams. In the words of A. S. Neill, I strive to always be on the child's side and embody those words daily. I am a practicing elementary school teacher with an MS. Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania and Orton-Gillingham trained.
