About Jane

Experience: 10 yrs

For the past five years, I have worked with two different families part time with children, and twins, 3 months old to 4 years old. Before that, I worked as a preschool teacher at a College University for 25 years. I've worked with children, ages 2 years, 9 months to 6 years old (including children with special needs). I am certified in infant/child CPR and first aid and am licensed with the MA Dept. of Early Education and Care. I also hold a teacher certificate with the MA Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education and have a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education. I love working with young children and even though I decided to leave the preschool classroom after 26 years, I still love to work one on one with a child, or a couple of children part time. I also love pets!

It is with great pleasure that I write this recommendation for Jane D as she applies for a position that involves working within the field that involves caring for children. After working with Jane for 15 years at a Children's Center, I am confident in her abilities and the great quality of teaching and learning she provides. As a part of a university, our unique setting within the campus community is not just for the young children within our care, but also for the considerable amount of students. These students utilize the Children's Center each semester as teacher assistants under the work study program, pre-practicum students or observers completing course work. Jane is proficient in early childhood development as well as the learning atmosphere within a university and has supported the modeling role we play among the students. These students often use our center as a spring board for their own teaching careers and have many times changed their majors as a result of being within our center. I have witnessed Jane's ability to meet the needs of both the young child and the university student with great skill. It is with confidence that I can speak to the high level of respect Jane has earned as a role model from within our center not only by me, but by the other teachers as well as the university students and children's parents within her classroom, both past and present. It is my strong belief Jane possesses not only a solid understanding of early childhood philosophy but also is well polished in her communication, interpersonal and managerial skills. It is these latter skills that are necessary to create a positive morale among employees and an effective working environment within our team teaching based center. Over the years, Jane has been supervisor to teachers within her classroom as well as to countless students and provided an excellent role model for others to follow within that capacity. Jane has shown the willingness to take a leadership role and has done so countless times over the years, both in an acting director capacity and when she has been in her every day teacher role. Responding under pressure can be difficult for some, but when faced with difficult situations, Jane handles them in a professional and calm manner. She is compassionate, articulate, and sensitive to the needs of both the families and staff. After witnessing first hand her administrative abilities throughout the years as my colleague, it is my conviction that Jane's abilities encompass all of the important organizational, interpersonal and professional skills and she would be an asset to any program within the field of education. If you wish to discuss this further with me, please do not hesitate to call me at home or at the center. Sincerely, L. Eileen E, Lead Teacher
