About James Oliver

Hi! My name is James-. I am a special education assistant with a teaching degree in early childhood special education with ESL endorsement from Lewis University. I work at a small school that specializes in neurodiverse affirming teaching practices. As well, I work in a church nursery on Sunday mornings. I have been working with children since I was 8 years old through both summer camps and church groups. I have also been a tutor for three and a half years. I have tutored students as young as 4 years old and as old as 17. Through my vast experience volunteering and working with children, I have worked with a diverse range of students, including in the areas of (dis)ability and cultural and linguistic background. I love laughing and learning with kids. I have found that, while kids learn so much from adults, we can also learn many things from children! I also work hard to support and encourage the growth and happiness of the children I work with.
