If I had to paraphrase quickly: Infants, preschoolers, elementary school tutoring, cerebral palsy... everything in-between, I've been there. The longer story: I have three younger brothers, and am 7 years older than the youngest two, so I have literally been babysitting for most of my life. It started out with my brothers, then I started working for the neighbors. In the summer of 2011 I provided daily, 8:00-5:00 care for a 6-month-old and a 4-year-old. In the summer of 2012 early on I provided care for a 6-year-old child with severe emotional disturbances. We worked through his episodes together- I am patient. Throughout all of school, I worked as a tutor in elementary school programs. And after I graduated in 2012, I worked as a paraeducator in a preschool. I was a one-on-one associate for a brilliant little girl with cerebral palsy, and I loved her with all my heart. Since the preschool was understaffed, I also acted as a general para- worked with ALL the kids. That included discipline, praise, teaching, and just playing. During this year I also provided respite care to various children with developmental disabilities in the area.
