About Jacob

Hi! I'm Jacob, an educator of 10+ years in math, physics, and competitive programming. I'm a 3-time World Finalist of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), an algorithmic problem-solving competition involving math and computer science concepts. I'm also an Eagle Scout, a ski instructor (PSIA Alpine I), and a lover of the great outdoors! During my time competing in the ICPC, I mentored team members, lectured on algorithms/data structures, and worked repeatedly as a TA for a residential two-week competitive programming summer camp. In high school and early college, I spent over 1000 hours tutoring math, physics, and CS to students of all ages. Subjects varied from elementary arithmetic, to geometry/algebra, to AP Calculus, to SAT/ACT prep, to college level Linear Algebra and Differential Equations. My favorite part of teaching is helping students build a model of understanding that works best for THEIR brain -- I'm excited to help your student find theirs!
