I built my first computer when I was 13. Nobody taught me how, I read forums, watched videos, ordered parts, and figured it out through a lot of trial and error. That same curiosity led me to teach myself to code, and eventually to a Computer Engineering degree from the University of Florida and a career as a software engineer. 13 programming languages later, I help students with math, physics and chemistry, and anything computer science, from a first Python loop to AP exam prep. The way I teach comes from the way I learned. I do not just hand over the answer. We work through the problem together until the student can explain it back to me. When something feels abstract, I tie it to something real, a game they play, a project they want to build, or the actual engineering problem the math was invented to solve. Homework help and test prep are covered, but what I care about is a student walking away knowing they can figure the next one out.
