I have worked and volunteered with adults and children with disabilities for over 10 years now. I started volunteering every summer at a camp before my freshman year of highschool and I started working with children with autism right after I graduated highschool. I became a registered behavioral therapist and worked at clinics and the children's homes. Right before COVID I became a Direct support professional at a residential school. When COVID hit the role changed a little and I soon became a registered instructional aid. A few years later I switched from a school setting to a vocational setting. I helped adults at a site do small industrial tasks and supported their needs and behaviors. Now I provide respite and daily living skills to children and adults in their homes or the community. I have enjoyed all my roles over the years and the many different experiences and lessons I have learned from them.
