About Hiya

I graduated from New York University with High Honors as well as the Loudoun Academy of Science, and have worked as a litigation paralegal. I also have been drawing and painting for over 15 years. I'd describe my personality as warm, patient, responsible, attentive, and open-minded. I started tutoring when I was in high school, working with students in different age ranges, anywhere from elementary school to high school, typically editing essays and teaching science. In my spare time, I like to read books, draw, go to Pilates, and try new restaurants! My skills include being organized, simplifying complex concepts into digestible parts, having strong writing skills, and giving constructive, solution-oriented feedback. I like tutoring because, over the course of my diverse educational experience, I have found that working closely with someone improves how I understand and absorb new ideas. Being a resource to facilitate that for someone else is deeply rewarding.
