About Gretchen

Hello! My name is Gretchen. I am 20 years old and have 5 years of child care experience. Currently I work full time as an Teacher Assistant at a school for children with learning disabilities. My role is a one on one position with my students. I adhere them through their academics and social learning environment everyday. I knew from a young age I wanted to work with kids, whether it was in a position of teaching or what my college focus is in, a position of understanding, Children are the future. Since 15, I have been working with my home church in various roles from nursery attendant to camp counselor and even working as a full time position as a cook in the kitchen. At 18, I began interning at a occupational therapy clinic. I was an assistant to the therapist. My role was to take care of clients, either help or guide children to therapy rooms, assistant the doctor in tools or other manipulatives related to the session and then anything else that could be asked. I worked here for four months during my first year in school and decided to take another opportunity which was my first nanny position. At this time I postponed school for the job. I took my first full time nanny position for a family of three. I was the ultimate caregiver, where I cooked the meals, took the children to school, would drive the mother to doctors appointments, and still be back to pick the kids up, help with homework, cook dinner, entertain the cleaning and put them to bed by 8:30. I worked with The J. Family for 8 months before deciding to move back to Washington. I started my new position this school year. I love knowing that I am making a difference everyday and hope to use my experience, strengths and knowledge to work with families again.
