I have experience providing individualized care for clients with complex neurological conditions, including supporting a young client with Rett syndrome who required a high level of medical and personal assistance. My responsibilities included managing G-tube feedings, administering prescribed medications such as Lupron injections for seizure management, monitoring for seizure activity, and responding appropriately during episodes to ensure safety and comfort. I also used specialized medical equipment to assist with daily care, positioning, and hygiene. This experience strengthened my patience, communication skills, and ability to build trust while supporting developmental and behavioral needs, which I am confident will translate well to working with teens on the autism spectrum.
