Eve was wonderful with my children while helping our family during my recovery from surgery. She handled bus stop pickups/drop-offs reliably and also helped with thoughtful extra tasks like loading/unloading the dishwasher and folding laundry, which I really appreciated during a difficult week. My recovery progressed faster than expected, so I only ended up needing about a week of help instead of the two weeks originally anticipated. Before we officially parted ways, Eve had mentioned she planned to start looking for work for the following week, and I encouraged her to do so because I wanted to be as transparent as possible about my changing needs and recovery. I did feel communication became somewhat limited afterward, which was disappointing, especially after I offered a modified mother’s-helper role with lighter household support and help with snacks for the kids. I was also uncomfortable coming home from the hospital and finding her eyelash extensions in my bed. During recovery, your bedroom becomes a place where you want to feel safe, comfortable, and able to truly rest, so that did bother me. Overall, I’m grateful for the care she provided to my children during a stressful time, and they genuinely enjoyed her company.
