I found a long-term Nanny/Private Educator position through Care. com six years ago, and working with that family for two years was an experience I treasure. I started working with a4-year-old girl who was shy, didn't like challenges, and threw the occasional tantrum, as they all do sometimes. By the time I left employment to start working as a State-Certified High School teacher, she was reading chapter books, playing grammar games, dancing, making friends, and advocating for herself calmly and clearly. Over my four years as a teacher, I have experience teaching English 1, English 3, and English 4. I have experience improving ACT and SAT test scores. I love helping students make connections and learn how to more effectively communicate. For adult education, I still meet with my adult tutoring client of four years now. My role has evolved to helping her navigate the online tasks she needs to do, and I enjoy helping her figure out whatever she needs.
