About Emelia

My teaching philosophy centers on building confidence and fostering a genuine love for learning. Showing students learning is inherently fun is at the heart of my 12 year tutoring career. I hold a college degree (Associate) in Math and am completed another in Child and Adolescent Development. I have also earned an Assistant Teacher certification for preschool level. I specialize in Math, English, History, Art, and Study Skills for elementary through high school students. I adapt to the needs of the child or children in working with through actively listening and varying my methods, from visual aids to hands-on activities. When concepts become challenging, I connect them to personal interests and previous knowledge base to keep engagement and motivating high. Open communication creates an environment where we can celebrate every "aha!" moment together. I am available to meet at a local library, community center, or coffee shop. I look forward to supporting this academic journey.
