Experience: 5 yrs
I am currently living in Brooklyn and I have worked with kids for the past 5 years in both educational and camp settings. I love leading activities and facilitating learning and playing sports. Additionally, I have been babysitting for over 5 years and have lots of experience with a variety of ages. I believe that building a strong connection and partnership with families is one of the most rewarding parts of childcare. No day working with kids is the same and new challenges bring exciting chances for perseverance followed by a sense of accomplishment for children. It is exciting to be able to facilitate these moments of growth and instill a sense of confidence in children.
Sending a child away from home is not easy and families expect tremendous care from our staff at KWE. The job requires maturity, enthusiasm, ability to problem solve on the fly, leadership and communication and Ella was exemplary in all of these categories. We expect our counselors to lead by example, and Ella consistently exceeded our expectations, always with a smile on her face. Moreover, Ella was proactive in her approach as a counselor. She never waited for instructions from a Director, but rather sought solutions on her own, and communicated the outcome to the Directors. When Ella was with her cabin and campers, I knew the kids were safe, having fun, and well taken care of, which as the Director of the camp, with so many moving parts and measured risks, was invaluable. I work with many young adults and write lots of recommendations – Ella stands out from the group. She is mature beyond her years, advocates for herself professionally, and has an uncommon ability to connect with people. She’s affable, caring, and approachable; campers, staff and parents gravitate toward her. Her natural ability is obvious, and it will serve her well in the next phase of her life. The world needs more people like Ella to commit to their passions and to share them generously, and while we will certainly miss her this summer, I am so proud of her. Ella is an intellectually curious, self-motivated, driven young woman, and it is my hope that she will use her platform at your program to further develop as a young professional.
