I'm a graduate student getting my master's at the UMB School of Social Work looking for work over the summer. I have over seven years of experience babysitting children of all ages and various temperaments, mainly from the Silver Spring area. In undergrad, I worked as a behavioral technician for kids on the autism spectrum. I learned invaluable skills concerning behavior management and de-escalating difficult situations in a safe and positive manner. I consider myself a keen listener and a present person, which I believe is essential when caring for kids. I also see the importance of limiting screen time and emphasizing playing outside, creating art, and making up imaginary games, among other activities.

Elena is amazing with young children and a delight to know. We would be excited to have the opportunity to hire her again. Our grandchildren and their parents visited us for a month over the holidays last Christmas. The girls were ages 4 and 18 months. We loved being with them and their mom and dad, but had not anticipated how tiring-no, exhausting-it would be to play with, feed and take care of them all day. And we had a 4:2 ratio of adults to children! When my daughter suggested we look for a nanny-type young person to be with them a few hours a day so that we could get other things done or just rest, we agreed enthusiastically. Lucky us, we found Elena-and she was a godsend. Elena is quiet, graceful, and playful with the children. She Could manage both of them at the same time with ease including playing, eating, bath time, and bedtime. She avoided power struggles, managed conflict magically, and related to both of them lovingly and playfully. Recommend her w/o reservation!
