Hello, it is my joy to tutor students in reading, writing, English and math. I specialize in dyslexia, dysgraphia. ADHD, and other learning difficulties. It is always a pleasure to see students grow in skills and confidence. The first session is free; after that you can decide whether or not to continue. My qualifications include over 30 years of experience and a Masters degree Special Education: Learning Disabilities. I have taught in classrooms but prefer working with students individually. I am trained in Phono-Graphix, Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing, Visualizing and Verbalizing, Stevenson, Read Naturally, and Handwriting Without Tears. Two favorite success stories: A fifth-grade student with dyslexia received a reward from her teacher for being the most likely to be caught secretly reading a book in class! A student disliked math at first, but later decided to make tiles showing how much she liked math! She went on to successfully self-study algebra.

Ellie has been tutoring my daughter for the last five years. When she started she could barely read or write. Ellie worked with her every weekend and slowly but surely progress was made. She also alerted us that our daughter may have a learning disability based on her experience and were able to get her tested through the school and she in fact did have a disability! Ellie then modified her tutoring to address her disability and continued to adapt her lessons to coincide with her IEP as well as what she was struggling with in school. My daughter now reads at grade level and passes her SOL in reading due to in no small part to Ellie! She is amazing and compassionate and truly cares about her students. I cannot say enough good things about the service she provides. I highly recommend Ellie as a tutor!
