About El

I'm a future educator and part-time childcare worker who values patience, care, and strong relationship building. I set high behavioral expectations while creating a supportive environment and giving children and caregivers agency in their childcare. I have 2 years of educational experience with City Year Chicago, mainly in ELA for ages 5-15. I currently work in CPS and Charter schools in before/after-school care and recess support primarily with K-2nd Grade. I enjoy coming up with activities for kids to do whether it be arts & crafts, creative writing or drawing, singing, and especially games (theater games especially!). I value outside time wherever possible especially during daytime sits, but I also like working with families to adapt to their needs! I also usually try to align my behavioral redirection with the values of the household for consistency in favor of the child. I am CPR/First Aid certified. I speak an intermediate amount of spanish & can hold a conversation.
