About Drew

Hi! I'm a licensed first grade teacher with experience supporting K-2 students in phonics and early reading. I work with beginning and struggling readers on skills such as letter sounds, blending, decoding CVC words, digraphs, blends, and early fluency. Tutoring sessions are structured, calm, and tailored to each child's specific needs. I focus on slowing things down, building confidence, and strengthening foundational reading skills through guided practice, phonics activities, and decodable texts--similar to small-group instruction, but one-on-one. I'm patient, encouraging, and consistent, and I communicate progress with families so they know what skills we're working on and how their child is growing. My goal is to help students feel successful and confident as readers.
