About Dorothy

I don't have paid experience caring for children but I took care of my two younger siblings and a younger cousin (ages 7-13) throughout my teens. I was responsible for walking them to and from school, helping with their homework, cooking dinner, and cleaning up after them. I have volunteer experience looking after children in my church community during events, providing activities and snacks. I also have experience working with children 3-6 years in a mentor-ship program and at children's museums in Tacoma and Seattle. In these settings, I engage(d) kiddos in educational and creative activities including basic math and spelling/reading, simple science experiments, general discussions about social issues, and crafts. I am hoping to go to graduate school to obtain a teaching degree in the near future. My interests include sewing, arts & crafts, music, reading, and hiking.
