I've spent nearly a decade working with middle schoolers and I can tell you with confidence, every kid can learn math; they just need someone who knows how to meet them where they are. For the past 5 years, I have taught 6th through 8th grade Math in NISD, Briscoe Middle School (go Bengals!). I know the Texas TEKS inside out, I know what the STAAR actually tests, and I know exactly where middle school math tends to break down for students. I use research based strategies to identify not just what a student doesn't know, but how they learn best - then I adjust in real time. Every session starts with where your child actually is, not where the textbook says they should be.
