I am a former substitute teacher and classroom volunteer. I specialize in reading, reading comprehension, writing, and spelling, with some basic math thrown in for good measure. I firmly believe that a student who can read is exposed to incredible ideas that can open the world to him or her. Not all students learn the same way so I look for ways to enhance a child's learning experience by using everyday things they are actually interested in learning about. Being able to read the letters and words however is not enough. The reader also needs to be able to understand the ideas and concepts behind the words. Comprehension can help with so many other subjects such as math story problems or understanding what they read in history books. New clients receive a free 1/2 hour evaluation session. I have passed CBI background check as a substitute teacher, a classroom volunteer, and as a former foster parent respite caregiver. Special arrangements can be made for evenings and weekends.
