About Kay

I am a former elementary teacher. I taught first and second grade but most recently worked as a title 1 teacher with interventions in reading and math with individual students or small groups. I have held a teaching certificate in Texas, Kansas and Colorado. I have worked in schools in the school districts. I have worked in parochial schools in Loveland and Fort Collins as well. I enjoy helping young students overcome early learning challenges. My skills are best used with elementary aged students who need extra help with reading and math.

My granddaughter was struggling with her reading in 2nd grade. I hired Kay to tutor her 2 days a week, and the results were amazing. Kay helped her go from K-1 reading level to 3rd grade level in about 10 months. Kay used a variety of methods including games, prizes, etc. and figured out the kind of books K was interested in. My granddaughter still doesn't "Love" to read - she would rather play video games. But the strategies and skills that Kay taught her helped her to sound out words, figure out context, and now she is a very capable reader. I highly recommend Kay.
