About Desiree

With over 10 yrs of experience caring for children from 3 mos to 12 yrs, I began nannying and tutoring English while attending university in Paris, working with several families for three years. Back in CA, I supported long term families in Chico, including one for more than five years, and I'm still in touch with them today. I have training in early childhood development and Montessori practices, and I'm fluent in four languages. As a professional illustrator, I bring creativity into our time together through art, stories, reading, and hands on learning. I'm calm, perceptive, compassionate, and engaging, and I love noticing kids' curiosities, supporting them with care, and making them laugh. I strive to be the adult I needed as a child, supportive, encouraging, and trustworthy. In my spare time, I create art, read constantly, sail, dance salsa, cook, spend time outdoors, and explore new cultures and ideas. I also value humor, structure, and being a reliable part of a child's life.
