About Derya

Hello! I am a New York State-certified special education teacher with a master's degree in Special Education. I currently teach middle school and have experience supporting students with a wide range of learning needs, including students with IEPs, ADHD, and learning disabilities. I provide patient, encouraging, and individualized tutoring in reading comprehension, writing, elementary and middle-school math, science, homework completion, study skills, and organization. I break difficult concepts into manageable steps and use clear modeling, guided practice, visuals, and positive reinforcement to help students gain confidence and become more independent learners. As both an educator and a mother of two, I understand how important it is for children to feel comfortable, supported, and successful.
