About Derek

I enjoy helping learners build confidence and achieve their goals through patient, personalized instruction. My tutoring experience includes teaching English to Ukrainian refugees, where I adapted each lesson to the student's language level, learning style, and individual goals. I am also competent in the Spanish language and would love the opportunity to help students build practical communication skills and confidence in using the language. I believe every student learns differently, so I tailor my approach to fit each person's needs--whether that means using visual examples, practical conversation, repetition, or breaking complex concepts into manageable steps. My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building new skills, and making steady progress.
