Hello! To begin, I started working with kids when I was 10 years old babysitting cousins and siblings. I have worked at 2 daycares in Champaign, and I have a lot of experience working with special needs children and adults. I have most recently worked with a baby that was 18 mos. when I began and is now nearing 2 years! My employers have decided to enroll him in a daycare so he can have the opportunity to socialize with children his own age. My heart is so big that I will miss them all dearly. I'd describe my personality as fun, intuitive, and caring. I love connecting with children and employers as if we are all family. I care not only for children but also for parents. I very much enjoy hearing about your workdays and any recreational activities that you participate in. My skills include socio-emotional education and grounding techniques, conscious discipline, and the awareness of child development in regard to age appropriate education and recreational activities.

I have known Deja since April of 2024 in her role as a nanny for our 2-year-old child. Deja has consistently held the position with grace and stability. Within the first week of her being in the position our child was calmer (and my mind was more at ease as a parent) than the entire 6 months prior with a different nanny. It was clear watching them together when I arrived home that Deja was not dysregulated by my child’s high energy emotions. She remained calm, firm, and consistent and in turn my child was happy and relaxed in a way that I hadn’t seen before with any other non-relative caregiver – a dream come true! In addition, Deja has brought expert knowledge and suggestions on foods to try (e.g., encouraging a variety of foods), methods to keep our child safe (e.g., informing us of local mosquito warnings or inclement weather), and ways to encourage growth and play (e.g., improving intelligence and emotional regulation through free play, encouraging hand dexterity through art, speech development through singing) to name a few. She's wonderful!
