I am a retired level one trauma nurse. I presently provide nanny services to several families on a part-time basis. I have worked in the school system some time back for 2 years on a weekly basis. I worked one year with 3rd graders and then 1st graders. The most fun I had was to help children with their reading. I would learn their areas of interest and prior to meeting, I would go to their library and get books I knew they would have an interest in. I also had much success with using a form of charades to make it more playful around figuring out a word. I helped with math as well.
