I've recently been caring for someone with dementia. It's been the most rewarding experience. We've enjoyed birdwatching, puzzles, painting, glitter bombing wooden nut crackers, decorating birdhouses and so many other activities. I'm looking forward to spending time getting to know someone new. Hearing the stories of their childhood, learning about their grandchildren, and finding new and fun creative ways to connect with them. I enjoy making genuine connections with the people I am caring for. I do not view care giving as a job or even as a career, I believe it is a calling for me. I was fortunate to be able to care for my father in my home the last 10 years of his life.
