I have been a nurse for 29yrs. Started in long term care, geriatrics(my passion). Ventured into visiting nurse, hospital nursing , sub acute and brief visit in hospice. I am nearing my retirement years and realized I need to work but doing something I love that is geriatrics. I was asked to care for a woman almost 6yrs ago.. she was 98 and still lived in her home. I loved being part of the team that made it possible for her to remain home feeling safe and comfortable until she was 101! Helped her get ready for the day made meals shopped took to dr appt helped pay her bills. Banking. Etc. did the same for a woman suffering from Parkinson's disease. She needed a bit more care. And still managed to enjoy lunches out . long drives. Beach trips And the same for my most recent friend who suffered from Alzheimer's disease. I went from early to end stage together. I am experienced in respite care. My last 2 home care required feeding tube treatment due to parkinsons ,
