About Darla

I am fluent in American Sign Language and love teaching this beautiful language to children. I have been a signer for over 50 years and run a non-profit organization that assists the deaf population toward their individual goals. Since now semi-retired, I want to pass these skills to new generations. Unlocking a child's unique potential through personalized support is the cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. Over the past 35 years, I have focused on building confidence and fostering a genuine love for learning rather than simple memorization. I assess their learning style by observing how they interact with new material, allowing me to tailor visual aids, hands-on activities, or discussions to their needs. Open communication is essential to building a collaborative environment for both them and their parents. Whether we meet at their home, online, or a local library, I am dedicated to helping them master their ASL skills. This beautiful language is waiting to be learned.
