Hello! My name is Colleen and I am a 3rd year PhD candidate in the chemical engineering department at CCNY. In my graduate program, I have had experience mentoring and assisting professors with undergraduate level classes. I am a scientist volunteer for BioBus and the New York Academy of Science, so I have a lot of experience teaching science to kids of all ages. I am also an aide for a 9th grade chemistry class in the upper west side. I work along with the high school teachers to give kids with academic challenges a more personal teaching experience. I am very passionate about getting kids interested in science. I have a unique perspective and approach to teaching, because of my background which may be advantageous for students who do not respond well to traditional teaching approaches. I am a very compassionate and patient person. I am also very open minded and I love animals.
