About Clara

My wife and I can wholeheartedly recommend Clara for nanny and child minding services. Background: we are an international client of Clara’s, having moved to Los Angeles from the UK for a 6 month work secondment and were in need of a regular child minder for our 2.5 year old daughter during this period. Clara was hired shortly after arriving in the US and has cared for our daughter on a weekly basis since. Context: whilst our daughter is good natured and social-able, she is enduring rapid emotional development with all the challenges that comes with this ie a healthy appetite to push boundaries and press buttons. On top of this challenge, we have potty trained our daughter during this time. Whoever we choose to use to mind our daughter couldn’t just be good, they had to be brilliant at what they do to cope with this. Clara has all the most important tangible skills you require and expect from a nanny and child minder. 1. She has a deep understanding of what’s babies and young children need. I expect this is due to a combination of both being a mother herself and of possessing an innate skill not everyone is born with. She has a deep understanding of what a healthy and happy child needs. One important example is she can naturally play with children and ensure they have fun, that’s not an attribute I’ve witnessed with all my child minders. One example, Clara insists on a ‘get to know your child’ session before she is left alone with them. I’ve never experienced this request from a child minder before and I can now see how crucial this step is for ensuring there is a bond between child and minder. However, she knows when a mildly sterner approach is required and that children shouldn’t always have exactly what they want. 2. Both regarding our child, property and belongings with have complete and utter trust in Clara. Although the opportunity hasn’t arisen, I would happily have Clara stay overnight while we were away. Again, Clara is the first child minder where this has been the case. In addition to this, Clara is always well mannered and friendly with adult interactions, an important aspect for when you see a lot of each other. 3. Clara is utterly dependable. Firstly, when she agrees to a date, that date is 100% watertight. Never once has she called us to communicate she needs to adjust agreed dates. Secondly, she is very good at being on time and giving regular communications if she is running late due to factors out her control ie bad traffic. The above elements are the most important aspects in our recommendation for Clara, however I wanted to finish with an intangible skill Clara possesses: how supportive she has been to my wife and me, beyond her duties with our child. When we have a question, at times completely unrelated to child minding, she is always happy to answer either in-person or over text. She has our back and this is worth its weight in gold.
