Christina was my mother's part time caregiver while she resided in an assisted living facility. Since I live far away, Christina was my eyes and ears to what was going on. She attended resident council meetings and advocated for better treatment of the residents at the facility. She kept a watch on my mother's behaviors and reported abnormalities. She double-checked medications and spoke to doctors on my behalf. She monitored oxygen. She arranged for a hospital bed. She shopped for clothes and new bedding, whatever my mom needed. She was on call for emergencies. My mom was hospitalized and then in rehab several times. Christina always made herself available for these fluctuating circumstances. She is a problem solver. Christina took my mom on fun outings, shopping, to the zoo, the beach, the art museum. She arranged small parties bringing lunch in from outside, often from my mom's favorite Chinese restaurant. In short, Christina went beyond the duties of a standard caregiver.
