About Chelsea

Hello families! My name is Chelsea. I am a first time mom to a 22-month-old boy and 2 dogs! I'm originally from Denver, Colorado, but have lived in Charlotte for 10 years. I have taught 1st-3rd grade and ESL in CMS for 10 years. I also have several years of tutoring and volunteer experience with kindergarten and preschool. I am certified in Orton Gillingham and have a strong foundation in phonics and literacy instruction. I am experienced working with students with various learning differences such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and general learning disabilities. I am also conversational in Spanish. I am available to serve students in all subjects K-5 including phonics, handwriting, math, reading comprehension, and kindergarten prep. My teaching style is encouraging and engaging. I love teaching children to enjoy learning and rely on building relationships with students so they feel safe to make mistakes and ask questions. Age appropriate games and songs make learning more fun!
