Hello! It's such a gift to work with children and I truly love it. I've run the gamut from changing diapers to mentoring teens nearly all my life! I'm trained in the Montessori method for ages 0-3. This educational philosophy puts respect for and independence of the child at the forefront of everything. I also use RIE and Faber-Mazlish communication strategies, both rooted in respectful and relationship-focused ways of being with children. I've witnessed, time and again, that an affirmed, empowered, and confident child is more happy and peaceful. For the past 3 years, I've pivoted from the classroom to doing 1-on-1 Montessori in the homes of infants and toddlers. It's satisfying to be able to work with families in a more personal and impactful way. As well, I'm happy to consider child care jobs for older children and teens as my schedule permits. We hired Carissa to care for our child from 8-15 mos. Her in-depth understanding of early childhood-development, Montessori and RIE (Respectful Parenting) was a tremendous benefit to our family. Carissa taught us which Montessori principles should be practiced at home and helped us to create a Montessori-friendly environment where our child could truly thrive, feel seen, heard and understood. She made a special connection to our son, facilitating play and exploration, feeding him, reading and singing to him and putting him down for naps.
