I am a reading intervention specialist with over a decade of experience teaching students with a variety of learning needs, including students who struggle with attention, behavior, social and learning differences. I'm patient, understanding, and creative in my lessons. Struggling readers have a reason they're struggling. I listen, ask questions, and look beyond the obvious to find what's getting in their way. Through personalized, hands-on instruction using the Wilson Reading System, lessons are tailored to their needs and pace which builds confidence in success. They will develop accuracy, then work toward reading more smoothly, confidently, and automatically. They will learn to hear and work with sounds, practice identifying, separating, blending, and changing the sounds in words, spelling patterns, reading unfamiliar words, vocabulary and language, understanding what they read and hear and lastly becoming an independent reader and writer.
