We had extensive conversations about this being a part-time position with shorter hours, and the nanny initially agreed and was willing to start. However, on the actual start date she backed out, saying the 38-minute commute for a 4-hour shift wasn’t worth it. While she was polite in communication, it was disappointing and inconvenient to have her cancel at the last minute after everything had already been discussed in detail.
