About Arnela

Hello! My name's Arnela, I'm currently a college student at Michigan State University studying Psychology with a minor in Youth and Society! In my spare time, I like to crochet, alter/sew clothing, read, journal, workout, do my makeup, and bedazzling. I started working with kids during sophomore year of high school, where I was a camp counselor for two summers working with kids ages 5-12. I would say one of my favorite moments during that time was getting over my fear of roller coasters because the children convinced me to! My skills include conflict resolution, activity planning, and patience. From my experience, I've found that asking children to vocalize, or attempt to, their emotions allows them to fully recognize what they are feeling and what caused them to feel that way. This helps deescalate the situation, and is the first step to finding a compromise. I like working with kids because we, whether a teacher or babysitter, help shape them into who they will become in the future!
