I started my care journey as a child advocating and translating as best I could for my non-verbal autistic twin brother. When I was in high school when I was lucky enough to get to go on a service trip to Guatemala to build houses/volunteer at a local orphanage through a local community group called teens inc! (I was vice president) My high school was also run by monks who believed in serving the poor through education and gave me plenty of opportunities to volunteer after school to tutor inner city kids and even work at a charter school for some of Philadelphia's most disadvantaged youth while I was still in college. College bachelor/ unofficial minor in linguistics studied at Cornell) I had even been able to work as a counselor at a juvenile detention center called Ocean T in Rhode Island. I currently work as a chess/lego/game coach in an after school program run by Star inc. for Elementary, a highly respected magnet STEAM school in Los Angeles.
