Upon graduating high school I worked as a CNA in a nursing home for three years. Three years ago after my grandmother passed, myself and my siblings stepped up to care for my grandfather to avoid putting him in a nursing home. We did everything for him from bathing, shaving, helping with transportation, both inside and outside of the house, helping upkeep his home and keep it clean, help him with medication management and keeping him on schedule, providing company and companionship, helping with toileting needs as needed And much more. We became the soul caregivers for our grandfather until he passed peacefully in his home like he wanted. This coupled with my degree in social work, has given me the desire to continue to work with the elderly in some capacity. Even if that is just to provide companionship. It has become a true passion of mine.
