Hi my name is Alteira and I've been working with children since I was old enough to babysit. From teacher to Peace Corps volunteer to childcare worker to nanny, I've always known that children are my passion. I have a Bachelor's degree in both childhood and inclusive (special) education and during my time as a Peace Corps volunteer I served as an English teacher in the small Pacific island nation of Samoa. I taught students of all ages and ability levels in a solo and co-teaching environment, served as the school's librarian, and worked as a mental health support person for my cohort of volunteers. I also taught at an early childhood education center in Vermont. I have been a nanny for a diverse range of families and children. My care philosophy is based on the importance of emotional and multiple intelligences. And of course the most important thing to me is that children have a safe and nurturing environment in order to learn and grow!

Alteira was wonderful with our two girls, ages 2 and 4. She worked full-time with us from October 2021 through February 2022 when she moved to a different area of the state. The girls loved cozy stories with her and endless make-believe play. In addition to forming strong warm bonds with the girls, Alteira is also very capable of managing big emotions, sibling rivalry, and all the more difficult moments that can arise with two young kids. She is a trained teacher and even joined Early Intervention sessions during week days to help our younger one with a speech delay. Alteira was extremely reliable, too - she always arrived on time, gave ample notice to accommodate time off, and was very communicative about sickness, which is helpful during the current times. She was also flexible and able to adjust to occasional early mornings to help with my older daughter's preschool drop off when needed. Overall Alteira was just wonderful and I highly recommend her!
