About Alexis

Back in 2005, my mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and for two years I took care of her at home. Despite the struggles and challenges, I wouldn't trade that time for anything. With heavy hearts, my brother and I made the very tough decision to place our mother in assisted living. We visited her very often and bonded with the staff and other residents. As our mother rapidly progressed and was admitted into a nursing home, it was then I knew what I wanted to do: help the elderly in some capacity. I was incredibly lucky to be a companion for a 75-year-old woman recovering from a stroke and while it did have some challenges (doesn't every job?), I enjoyed every second. From the life experiences to stories of how she met her husband, what her kids were like growing up, holding her grand-kids for the first time and just knowing that my presence in this woman's life was making such a huge difference for her as well as her family, I found my first foray into senior care to be so rewarding and I look forward to being able to help someone and their family again.
