I am very skilled at helping students create mnemonic devices that help them memorize grammar and vocabulary. I am also very familiar with Greek and Latin root words, which is another highly effective way of memorizing the meanings of words. I am mistaken for a native speaker in both foreign languages and I have used my language ability as an actor as well. On several occasions I have been chosen over native speakers of both Spanish and German. While I do like to guide my students somewhat and "hold their hand" when it comes to navigating the intricacies of grammar, vocabulary and story structure, this is helpful only up to a certain point. I feel it is much more effective for a student to create their own "aha!" moments. I do not like just giving away correct answers, as this negates the entire process of learning. I view my work as a tutor as someone who aids students in making their own discoveries. Therein lies the joy and enrichment of education.
