My interest in caregiving began unexpectedly, through family rather than career planning. When my partner's grandparents needed support in their later years, I stepped in to help -- assisting with daily routines, medical appointments, and simply being present during a difficult stretch of their lives. What started as a way to support my partner's family became something I found genuinely meaningful. I discovered that I had a natural patience for this work, and a real satisfaction in helping someone maintain dignity and comfort as they aged. Caring for my partner's grandparents through the end of their lives showed me the impact steady, compassionate care can have -- not just on the person receiving it, but on the whole family around them. That experience became the foundation for my interest in adult caregiving as a path forward.
