I'm an award-winning author for young people. My debut novel earned the 2026 Sydney Taylor Book Award. When I'm not writing my next novel, I enjoy working with students of all ages to master the fundamentals of writing, close reading, and other subjects that can help us better understand ourselves and the world around us. I'm passionate about finding the right teaching strategy for each student. I have a bachelor's degree with honors from CU, a master's degree from the UN , Reno, and experience tutoring for DC Public Schools. In 2014, my SAT score was 2330 out of 2400. This fall, I will begin working as an adjunct faculty member in UNR's low-residency creative writing MFA program.
