I'm Abby! I have my bachelors in psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno and my masters in "Teaching as Applied Behavior Analysis" (learning theory) from Teachers College, Columbia. I have 10 years working 1-1 with kids on foundational skills. I take a 2 pronged approach- I focus on both basics and current curriculum to help them catch up fast. I have also worked with exceptional learners- kids who need a challenge or have splinter skills. What makes me stand out? I love kids who hate learning. I love having the privilege of changing their minds when they see themselves succeed, over and over. Please reach out! I can't wait to meet you and your child! I'd describe my personality as fun, goal focused, and engaged. I like tutoring because I like to see the kids grow! I collect a lot of data to track progress so I'm never guessing if they mastered something. My skills include data collection, efficiency, and fun!
Abby has been an incredible reading tutor for my teenager. He has ADHD and can be very difficult to motivate, but Abby never gave up on him. She is patient, persistent, and genuinely invested in his success. Over time, we’ve seen real growth—not just in his reading skills, but in his confidence and willingness to try. Abby meets him where he is while still holding high expectations, and that balance has made a huge difference. We are so grateful for her dedication and highly recommend her to any family, especially those with children who need extra encouragement and understanding.
