Also seeking a nanny
We are expecting our first (a boy!) in June 2019 and couldn't be more excited. We are friendly and in our late twenties and love being outside, spending time with family and friends, and checking out new areas and activities in the region. We grew up in Northern Virginia and plan to stay for a few more years. We both work in the city. Mom has a flexible schedule and Dad has more rigorous/early/late hours. We will be moving from Mount Vernon in August to the Arlington, Falls Church, or Del Ray area. We do not have any pets currently but may be looking to add a dog to our family within a year or two. Our ideal nanny share: We are looking to start a nanny share in late August or early September when we have moved and mom returns to work full time. Right now we think our ideal hours will be 8am - 6pm M-F but we are somewhat flexible. We are open to hosting, the other family hosting or splitting the hosting between houses. We love the idea of a nanny share for a few reasons. We do not love the daycare options (cost, quality of care) in the area nor do we think that much socialization is crucial at an infant stage. Having a nanny share allows us to have quality, close care for our boy and helps with the insane cost of childcare in the region. Not to mention he will get some socialization and us new parents get to know another family in the area :). We are looking for a family with similar needs, schedules and values as ours. A deal breaker for us would be if the other family/child is not vaccinated or if anyone in the home smokes. As first-time parents, we are trying to navigate these waters the best we can and be as open-minded as possible for all that comes with caring for a newborn and doing a nanny share. We want to make sure that both families and the nanny feel comfortable and happy with the nanny share at all times and keep an honest and open line of communication no matter what. We would say we are pretty easy going but we would like to make sure a contract is in place for the nanny and the families to make sure everything is clear and everyone is taken care of. We are so looking forward to starting a nanny share!
